APRIL IS CAR CARE MONTH

Published on Jun 21, 2023 by Dylan Weiher

A Car Care Council campaign is held every two months to promote preventative maintenance and car care awareness. In April we celebrate National Car Care Month and in October we celebrate Fall Car Care Month.

The end of winter seems to be around the corner in April. Getting your vehicle serviced now will allow you to hit the road for spring and summer road trips!

A basic maintenance routine can greatly improve the safety and dependability of your vehicle, as well as avoid costly repairs in the future. A neglected car can end up requiring more expensive repairs in the long run, as well as losing its value as a resale. Almost all cars need some work. Maintain your vehicle to keep it in tip-top shape during National Car Care Month!

Check out these tips from our certified service managers to keep your car in excellent shape!

Schedule a Full Tune-up

We will inspect your vehicle in full when you schedule a full tune-up with our Service Team. Having frequent tune ups will cost significantly less than needing a major tune up as a result of neglect.

Replace Wiper Blades

If you want the best performance and safety from your windshield wiper blades, replace them every six months or when they are cracked, cut, torn, streaking or chattering.

Have your tires checked

In addition to checking for cuts and bruises along the sidewalls, the tread wear of your tires should be examined for uneven or irregular wear. It is recommended that you check the alignment of your car every year to increase fuel efficiency and handling and reduce tire wear.

Breaks should be inspected annually

If you change your oil every year, you should inspect the brake system, the brake linings, and the brake rotors and drums.

Oil, Filters and Fluids

Besides checking and replacing oil at every fill-up, you should also check the transmission fluid, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant fluid, and windshield washer fluid. Service Technicians are automatically trained to perform this service whenever you stop by for an oil change.

Battery Connection

You should ensure that the battery connector is clean, tight, and corrosion-free. If a battery is more than three years old, it should be tested and if necessary replaced.

Inspect for Exhaust Leaks

When you hear an unusual noise coming from your exhaust system, check it for leaks, damage or broken supports or hangers. These leaks can be extremely dangerous and must be addressed as soon as possible.

Steering and Suspension Inspection

It is recommended that steering and suspension parts, including shock absorbers and struts, as well as chassis components, such as ball joints and tie rod ends, be inspected every April (or at the very least annually).

Schedule your Service today!

Maintaining your vehicle can yield many benefits both in terms of improving the safety and dependability of your vehicle as well as decreasing the risk of expensive repairs. In this month, get your car or truck ready for spring driving, summer road trips, or to resolve any lingering issues that may have accumulated over the winter.
